About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Special Events and the Senior Manager, Fund Development, the Fund Development & Events Specialist will be responsible for donor stewardship and cultivation, prospect research and support for both departmental and cross-departmental events.

The position will work closely with a team of 28 to ensure that the financial goals of the Fund Development department are met and will represent the YWCA in public and one-on-one situations. We each work independently and are fully responsible for our own portfolios while working collaboratively as a dynamic team to meet our annual revenue targets.

What you’ll be doing:

- Conduct research on prospects and support the Fund Development team on cultivation and stewardship strategies

- Recommend appropriate strategies and follow-up as required for prospects

- Manage stewardship of Annual and Community donors and collaborate with colleagues for cultivation strategies

- Provide support across all areas of Impact Series events, housing openings or third-party events. Responsibilities may include compiling guest lists, coordinating marketing efforts and arranging catering.

- With the support of the Special Events team, contributing to the planning and execution of YWCA events, including third-party events and community events. This may include coordinating logistics, supporting outreach efforts, volunteer management, attendee coordination, and helping ensure each event aligns with organizational objectives

- Assist with all aspects of special event coordination for the YWCA’s flagship fundraising event, the Women of Distinction Awards

- Event logistics lead for the Annual General Meeting

- Event logistics support for the annual YWCA Rhythms of Resilience community event

- Supporting the Fund Development and Special Events teams with new projects and initiatives as they ariseEnsure accurate donor records by updating donor interactions, giving intentions, communication preferences and recognition in Raiser’s Edge

- Contribute to and collaborate with colleagues in Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) discussions, activities and strategies

- Other duties as required

What you offer

- A post-secondary degree/diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team

- Detail oriented and ability to handle multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment

- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to write a variety of documents, such as proposals, reports and correspondence

- Experience with prospect research and researching social issues would be an advantage

- Experience with Raiser’s Edge would be an advantage

Pay Rate: $35.02 per hour ($63,730.21 per annum) with annual salary increases in a normal course.
