**JOB DESCRIPTION**
Position reports to**:Creative Director**
**Overview**:
The Copywriter is a passionate creative thinker with a proven track record in copywriting for businesses and their brands, who will ensure that our clients are provided with impactful, strategic, and targeted solutions that meet and surpass our clients’ business needs. The Copywriter will be working on a variety of engaging projects such as blogs, case studies, marketing strategies, reports, SEO projects, social media, and more.
**Requirements**:
- Degree in Marketing/Communications/English is preferred
- Experience in providing copywriting for a variety of clients and businesses, with an emphasis on strategic writing capabilities
- Experience in the creation, writing, and proofreading for marketing projects such as: communications strategies, annual reports, blogs, articles, social media, creative briefs, and case studies
- Ability to work independently, and can manage multiple client projects simultaneously, for both online platforms and print materials
- Familiar with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an asset
- Ability to adhere to Elements of Indigenous Style and The Canadian Press Style Guides is an asset
- Proficiency in English is required
**Key Characteristics**:
- Creative - Is a continuing and passionate source of fresh new ideas, easily making connections among seemingly unrelated notions. Original in thinking and an enthusiastic contributor to brainstorming sessions. Is able to effectively communicate ideas through strong copywriting and verbal communication skills.
- Customer-focused - Understands the distinction between creative expression and commercial reality. Good appreciation for how businesses work, understands the role that our services play in business, and can create solutions that drive growth for clients.
- Independent - Combines a high degree of proficiency in a broad range of skills from creative/conceptual to production with excellent work habits, allowing them to work effectively with mínimal supervision when required.
**Essential Functions and Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement creative concepts
- Copywriting
- Copy editing
- Proofreading
- Contribute creative solutions and innovations that strengthen the agency’s brand and market leadership position
- Participation in project briefings and meetings as a member of the creative team
- Utilize and support the agency’s standards and processes
**Evaluation**:
Beyond overall proficiency at performing responsibilities as outlined, areas of evaluation include quality of product, timeliness, and client and creative team satisfaction.
Areas include:
- Utilization and support of our standards, processes, and systems
- Contribution to profitability
- Projects completed on time and budget insofar as it is within the copywriter’s control
- Our client goals are being met
- Copywriting, editing, and proofreading capabilities
- Demonstrate problem solving and conceptual skills
- Working well in group setting and contributing to overall positive team atmosphere
Please be prepared to provide portfolio samples to showcase a variety of professional work. Some examples could include a blog post or article, case study, social media content calendar, campaign plan, or creative brief.
Pay: From $40,183.07 per year
