**Advisor, Business Development - Carleton University / Conseiller(ère), Développement des affaires — Carleton University**
This is not your ordinary sales job. Our Business Development Advisors are the bridge between academia and industry partners or organizations. They spot opportunities and act on behalf of Mitacs. They are at the forefront of marketing Mitacs programs and are analogous to matchmakers, who find the common interests between companies and researchers.
If you were to join Mitacs as an Advisor in our Business Development team, jointly with Carleton University, we’d ask you to do the following:
- Work closely with members of the Mitacs Business Development, Research, and Programs teams to deliver high‐quality programming.
- Work closely with stakeholders at Carleton University to fully understand the needs of the researchers and students, find industry opportunities, and identify the best programs to leverage the research opportunities uncovered.
- Create and maintain a network of partners/clients in industry and academia, in Ottawa and the Kanata North region.
- Introduce companies and not-for-profit organizations to various Mitacs programs.
- Introduce companies to various university researchers
- Provide business development support to all Mitacs programs as needed.
- Provide business development and student engagement support to Carleton University

- Recent MSc or PhD (within one to two years), ideally from Carleton University, or an equivalent combination of education and research experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in French, an asset
- Excellent presentation skills
- Enthusiastic and high‐energy self‐starter
- Team player
- Ability to think creatively and try new things
- Desire to pursue a career outside of research and academia
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performance culture

- travailler en étroite collaboration avec les parties prenantes de l’Université Carleton afin de bien comprendre les besoins des chercheuses et chercheurs et des étudiantes et étudiants, de trouver des occasions avec des entreprises et de déterminer quels sont les meilleurs programmes qui permettent de tirer le maximum des occasions de recherche recensées;
- créer et entretenir un réseau de partenaires et clients dans le secteur privé et le milieu postsecondaire à Ottawa et dans la région de Kanata-Nord;
- présenter les divers programmes de Mitacs aux entreprises et OSBL;
