**Position Overview**:
Oliver Jewellery is excited to announce an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Buyer's Assistant at our new Hamilton location at 86 Mall Road. As a Buyer's Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various tasks essential to the smooth operation of our store. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. While the duties may vary day-to-day, the Buyer's Assistant primarily supports the buyer in managing cash, sorting & bagging jewellery, entering transactions into our computer software, and providing excellent customer service.
**Responsibilities**:
Cash Management:
- Count cash in the morning and reconcile with the previous day's total.
- Balance cash at the end of the day with daily transactions.
- Monitor cash needs during buy negotiations and ensure availability for the buyer.
Inventory Management:
- Sort jewellery by karat and purity, checking stamps and conducting tests as necessary.
- Use our Entrupy authentication system to ensure authenticity of bags and accessories.
- Proficiently handle watch inventory including opening watches, changing batteries
- Removal of stones from jewellery settings.
General Customer Service and Administration:
- Bag purchases and assist buyers with transactions.
- Enter all purchases into the pawning system accurately.
- Process pawns and pickups with customers, coordinating with the buyer as needed.
- Maintain store cleanliness and ensure all supplies are stocked.
- Organize holds, repairs, and invoices for pick-up days, ensuring all accompanying items are included.
- Prepare and handle holds for transport on pick-up days.
- Answer phones and provide assistance to customers as required.
**Requirements**:
- Availability to work six days per week (Mon-Sat) during store operating hours, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in a similar role or in the jewelry industry is an asset.
**Compensation**:
The annual compensation for this position is $60,000.
