Oakridge Landscape Contractors is seeking an Heath and Safety Coordinator to join our dynamic HR team If you have a passion for precision, enjoy working on diverse projects, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct health and safety inspections at various job sites. This includes daily, weekly, and monthly inspections.
- Support the completion of pre-job risk assessments.
- Perform and assist with daily vehicle/equipment circle check inspections.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Keep documentation and records up to date (site visits, incidents, inspections).
- Assist in the guidance and training of field staff of the 4Safe website, forms and implementation of required OHSM documentation from the field.
- Ensure that orientation and hands-on training is followed by required staff within the field for such positions as drivers, operators, lawn maintenance, residential and construction employees.
- Assist HRSM in the investigation of insurance claims including on site investigations, taking photos of incident locations, other information-gathering as requested.
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety procedures for all staff and divisions.
- Assist HRSM in keeping all safety boards updated regularly according to health and safety standards. Including both boards located in the yard as well as in the field.
- Actively participates in the Joint Health and Safety Committee, contributing to discussions and initiatives that promote a safe and compliant work environment.
- Assist in orientation training when needed with the Human Resources Generalist.
- Provide general HR support as needed.
What You Bring:
- G Class Driver's License with a clean driving abstract (must be able to travel to job sites).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a health and safety or HR-related role.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Sound knowledge of the Employment Standards Act and other legislation and government requirements to support compliant employee relations.
