Position Overview:

Oliver Jewellery is excited to announce an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Buyer's Assistant at our new Hamilton location at 86 Mall Road. As a Buyer's Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various tasks essential to the smooth operation of our store. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. While the duties may vary day-to-day, the Buyer's Assistant primarily supports the buyer in managing cash, sorting & bagging jewellery, entering transactions into our computer software, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

Cash Management:

• Count cash in the morning and reconcile with the previous day's total.
• Balance cash at the end of the day with daily transactions.
• Monitor cash needs during buy negotiations and ensure availability for the buyer.

Inventory Management:

• Sort jewellery by karat and purity, checking stamps and conducting tests as necessary.
• Use our Entrupy authentication system to ensure authenticity of bags and accessories.
• Proficiently handle watch inventory including opening watches, changing batteries
• Removal of stones from jewellery settings.

General Customer Service and Administration:

• Bag purchases and assist buyers with transactions.
• Enter all purchases into the pawning system accurately.
• Process pawns and pickups with customers, coordinating with the buyer as needed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and ensure all supplies are stocked.
• Organize holds, repairs, and invoices for pick-up days, ensuring all accompanying items are included.
• Prepare and handle holds for transport on pick-up days.
• Answer phones and provide assistance to customers as required.

Requirements:

• Availability to work six days per week (Mon-Sat) during store operating hours, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Prior experience in a similar role or in the jewelry industry is an asset.

Compensation:

The annual compensation for this position is $60,000.
