**The Role**
The Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating manual mill machines; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
This is a full-time position on the afternoon shift.
**Afternoon Shift**:
Monday - Thursday: 3:30PM - 12:30AM
Friday: 2:00PM - 10:00PM
**Responsibilities**

- Calibrate, set up and operate a manual mill machine that included performing the following tasks, drilling, tapping, fly cutting. By using the following tools to include but not limited too using endmills, drills, taps, reamers, radius cutters, etc.. following issued drawings.
- Machine parts to a tolerance of + -.001”
- Use of measuring tools such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc..
- Calculate the dimensions needed for the job and inspects workstation to ensure the machine and other equipment is in working order
- Ensure that the tool settings remain within tolerances and adjust the controls to correct when variations appear
- Plan machining through blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, interpreting GD&T
- Set up mills by installing, vices, fixtures, tools and attachments
- Machine workpieces manually
- Verify settings and maintain part specifications by measuring
- Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, adding/mixing coolant, topping up oils, following manufacturer's instructions
- Check that finished workpieces meet all specified dimensions and tolerances that are outlined on given drawings.
- Performs other duties as assigned
**Requirements**:

- Conventional/ Manual Mill Operating experience required
- With 5+ years of experience and excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficient at shop math, reading specifications and measurements
- Ability to read drawings and understand geometrical tolerances.
- Ability to work independently and to lift 40-50 lbs
- Very organized with attention to detail and accuracy
- Have the ability to obtain a crane and /or forklift license
- High school diploma required; college diploma in relevant field is an asset
