The Program Manager provides leadership to the child care centre teams to ensure programs function well and align with UVic Child Care Services mission, vision ethos and policies. The Program Manager directly supervises the ECE Supervisors (one for each child care centre), ensures that teams are supported and working collaboratively, supports teams’ pedagogical inquiry work, participates in the hiring and orientation of educators, and ensures that programs meet UVic Child Care Services high standards and regulatory accountabilities. This position may require working some evenings and weekends based on operational requirements. As per UVic Child Care Services policy, must be immunized in accordance with the B.C. childhood immunization schedule. - Job Requirements This requires a post-secondary degree in Early Childhood Education, or closely related field, current first aid certificate and Early Childhood Educator Certificate through the B.C. ECE Registry with a minimum of three (3) years of experience, including: - Experience developing and facilitating professional development in the early years field. - Working in a licensed child care facility. - In a pedagogical leadership role in Early Childhood Education that included supervision of at least four staff. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. **Additionally, the position requires**: - Strong working knowledge of BC child care licensing regulations - Strong knowledge of current early years pedagogy and experience implementing the British Columbia Early Learning Framework (British Columbia Ministry of Education, 2019) into early learning and care practice. - Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and effectively address issues, concerns and interests of others, and provide effective feedback to staff. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Demonstrated understanding of inclusivity, equity, diversity, as well as truth and reconciliation in action with a genuine interest in creating and supporting a diverse and inclusive community for students, faculty
