**Youth / Recreation Assistant**
**(Temporary Full-time - Contract until December 31, 2027)**

**The Town of Wasaga Beach** is seeking a creative, energetic and self-motivated individual to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Youth / Recreation Assistant.

**General Responsibilities**:Youth / Recreation Assistant will work as a team and be responsible for the controlled entry access; supervision, guidance and direction of the youth membership; and safe, smooth operation of the recreation center and its schedule. Contributing to the creation, implementation and evaluation of a variety of recreation programs for youth. All duties must be performed in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Municipal policies, procedures and practices.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma and post-secondary education in recreation and leisure services, therapeutic recreation, recreation business, sport administration, child and youth worker or equivalent;
- One (1) year of previous related job experience working with a variety of demographics including youth 12 to 17 years of age;
- Coaching experience in sport and certifications through NCCP or other sport specific accreditation including Hi Five, considered an asset;
- Experience facilitating and delivering various recreation programs, such as: sports programs, drama/crafts and musical programs, youth events and tournaments considered an asset;
- Experience with committees considered an asset;
- Strong social media skills and a proven record of success in promoting youth activities
- Strong interpersonal and effective written and verbal communication skills are required;
- Effective problem solving and conflict management skills are required;
- A current, acceptable Criminal Reference Record - Vulnerable Sector and CPR/AED are required;
- Standard First Aid certification required;
- Valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing and ability to provide an acceptable driver’s abstract;
- General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- Ability to lead, work with and contribute positively to a service oriented team;
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings and weekends.

**Rate of Pay Range**:$29.51 to 34.74** **per hour (35 hours per week)**
