Qualicum Manor is located in the heart of Qualicum Beach and is home to 59 older adults living in long term care. We are looking for a full-time caring, compassionate Activity Assistant with a person-centered approach to join our team Under the general supervision of the Recreation Therapist and in cooperation with the interdisciplinary team, the Activity Assistant assists with the provision of recreation programs for residents, supporting their physical, emotional, social, cognitive and spiritual well being.
- **Qualifications**:_
- **Education, Training and Experience**_
Completion of a recognized Activity Assistant Program, plus two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- **Skills and Abilities**_
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Collaborate with others effectively.
- Physically carry out the duties of the position.
- Responsible for day-day preparation, implementation and evaluation of recreation programs that meet a diverse population of residents.
- Ensures that every resident is involved in identified recreational activities.
- Leads, instructs and motivates residents in individual and group activities.
- Setup and organize equipment needed for specific program(s), and oversee residents involved by encouraging participation.
- Escort, transport, assist residents to and from programs.
- Record and discuss residents participation levels in programs to the Recreation Therapist.
- Ability to follow safety policy and protocol in community with residents and volunteers.
