Natural Resource Compliance Technician

**Duties**
Ø Lead implementing the compliance inspection program for the Ogoki Forest
Ø Timber cruising and data collection
Ø Operational Support (e.g. harvest boundary layout, locating road centerlines and water crossings.)
Ø Silviculture program implementation (e.g. tree plant, site preparation, tending, regeneration surveys)
Ø Maintain positive working relationship with contractor
Ø Environmental assessment support & surveys
Ø Data collection, records management for environmental assessments, wood waste landfill monitoring & water sampling activities
Ø Assist with field equipment maintenance, health & safety training & protocol management
**Qualifications**
Ø Preference given to a graduate of an accredited forestry or natural resource technician program
Ø Forest Compliance Inspector Certificate L1 is required at a minimum.
Ø Valid Ontario Class-G driver’s license or equivalent is required
Ø Experience in timber cruising, conducting field surveys & silviculture program implementation is preferred
Ø Experienced with managing digital data and record keeping is preferred
**Preferred Skills and Abilities**
Ø Knowledge of Ontario tree species, forest plants and shrubs; & an introductory knowledge of forest, wetland, and other vegetated forest and non-vegetated forest cover types
Ø General knowledge of forest soils & concepts of forest hydrology
Ø Ability to work independently & manage personal work time effectively
Ø Good analytical and report writing skills
Ø Ability to work safely in inclement weather conditions & in remote locations
Ø Comfortable driving on forestry roads and able to operate ATV and snow machine
