Payroll & Trucker Accounts Payable Technician

This position is based out of our office located in **Nisku, AB**.**
**What is the role?**
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position is responsible for all aspects of the payroll related to salary employees by compiling payroll data, coding, and balancing payroll system, verifying and reconciling benefit enrolments and payroll records, distributing pay statements and answering payroll related questions for employees and supervisors. This position also includes backup and support for hourly non-union payroll.
This position is also responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services to the Corporation for processing and monitoring trucker payments in a timely manner and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
Payroll responsibilities include:

- Maintains confidentiality of all employee records and payroll information;
- Works with supervisory staff to ensure that the payroll needs of each employee are met on time and with accuracy;
- Ensures that all payroll is in compliances with government agencies (i.e., Employment Standards) in each jurisdiction in which the company operates;
- Receives payroll sign on packages and sets up new employees or reinstates re-hired employees ensuring all data is accurate and all required documentation is correct and accurate; contacts appropriate supervisors for any missing information;
- Responsible for benefits employee enrolment and monthly hourly reporting;
- Coordinates monthly payment of employee RRSP contributions to the Bank;
- Processes employee terminations and lay-offs in a timely manner, prepare and file Record of Employment (ROE)
- Answers questions with regard to company benefits and provides a reference when unable to answer the questions;
- Responsible for WCB account balancing, reporting and annual return;
- Prepares and reconciles all year end reporting; issues T4 slips in a timely manner
- Responds to government agencies relating to employees;
Trucker payables responsibilities include:

- Manage payables related to truck haul by tonnage and hourly
- Manage trucker sign on packages and WCB clearances
- Manage fuel records and fuel key deductions.
- Working with an accounts payable team, performs the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that corporate finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner;
- Prepares invoices for payment by verifying purchase authorization, receipt of goods and calculation accuracy; codes invoices to ledger accounts as per purchase orders or department managers/supervisors;
- Sorts and files documents according to accounts payable process;
- Matches invoices to purchase orders or partial shipment forms and checks agreement as to the item, quantity and price;
- Ensures that invoices and purchase orders are supported by senior management;
- Batches invoices, verifies totals, prepares rush cheques for payment
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software
- Experience in SAP in a construction environment an asset
