**How will you make an impact?**
The Fireweed Institute exists to build a thriving Indigenous entrepreneurship ecosystem. We are looking for a proactive and community-rooted Program Coordinator to help implement and evolve our business innovation and incubation programming and to support the logistics and execution of our broader programming initiatives.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about entrepreneurship, with lived or professional experience in Indigenous contexts, and with an aptitude for technical or design innovation, facilitation and community driven impact. The Coordinator will play a hands-on role in the field—including travelling into Indigenous communities with our mobile maker-space, building relationships, and demonstrating entrepreneurial prototyping tools and practices.
**What will you work on?**
Program Coordination & Delivery:
- Research innovation and business development practices, frameworks and pathways to develop high-quality, relevant curricula for innovation workshops for Indigenous youth (ages 15 to 30).
- Build relationships with Indigenous communities (both urban and rural) to support program rollout
- Work with community partners and entrepreneurs to ensure programming is culturally relevant and responsive to community needs.
- Support planning, coordination, and logistics of our innovation and incubation programming.
- Travel to Indigenous communities to co-deliver workshops, facilitate hands-on activities, and engage with entrepreneurs.
- Coordinate schedules, materials, equipment, and communications related to development of business innovation sessions
- Assist in prototyping and technical demonstrations (e.g., maker tools, simple product development, design software).
- Engagement with innovation programs and hubs locally, nationally and internationally.
Program Operational & Logistics Support:
- Research options for the creation of a mobile innovation/maker-space, including tool selection, budgeting, transportation mode (RV, trailer, etc.), program collaborators.
- Once developed, oversee the deployment and maintenance of a mobile maker-space and ensure it is travel-ready, appropriately and safely equipped.
- Manage travel logistics, site bookings, supply inventories, and shipment of program materials.
- Assist with contract coordination for instructors, facilitators, and Knowledge Keepers.
- Maintain tracking systems for participation, budgets, and feedback.
Entrepreneur Engagement & Communication:
- Serve as a point of contact for participants, answering questions, sharing resources, and supporting their experience.
- Support storytelling, evaluation, and reporting by capturing quotes, case studies, and feedback during events and workshops.
- Support online and hybrid delivery of workshops through Zoom/virtual platforms as needed.
Team Collaboration & Learning:
- Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to continuous program learning and development.
- Participate in cultural and professional development opportunities offered by Fireweed Institute

**Required**
- Located within a commuting distance of Vancouver. Role will require in-person working sessions and attendance to events multiple times a year.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in engineering, design, AI, tech innovation or prototyping equipment (3D printers, CNC, etc.)
- Some experience coordinating programs, workshops, or community events.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to Indigenous communities (up to 40% of the role).
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and comfort juggling multiple timelines and logistics.
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
