The Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region (ASNR) is a community support service organization that provides programs and services to people living with dementia and their care partners in the Niagara Region. We work closely with other service providers to ensure quality care and support for our clients.

We employ administrative and fund development staff, educators, social workers, nurses, therapeutic rec staff, personal support workers and volunteers who work together as a team to meet the needs of people living with dementia and their care partners.

**The Coordinator of Volunteer Programs will manage all elements of volunteerism, including but not limited to recruitment, screening, orientation, training, ongoing supervision and evaluation of volunteers within the organization. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for the overall administration of Visiting and Social Safety Programs, including Meaningful Visits, Tele-recreation and Recollections, and the matching of clients with volunteers to ensure that the needs of clients are met. The Coordinator of volunteers will also recruit and organize volunteers for other ASNR programs, office administration, Fundraising and OLG Bingo sessions and become BINGO trained as backup to support OLG halls when required. The Coordinator is the first point of contact for all organizational volunteers and will act as a liaison with all departments to assess the organization’s volunteer needs for recruitment and retention of volunteers.**

**Position Description**

**Title**: Coordinator of Volunteer Programs

**Reporting To**: Director of Education, Community Engagement and Quality

**Hours**: 40 hours per week (includes paid lunch break); Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Some evenings or weekends may be required for special events. Time worked outside of regular working hours will be granted as time in lieu.

**Salary Range**: $45,000 - $48,000

**Benefits**: Extended health and dental benefits

**Pension**:Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan

**Vacation**: 3 Weeks paid vacation (Pro-rated to calendar year)

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**1. Program Development & Departmental Oversight**
- Maintain an up-to-date Volunteer Program Manual that includes:

- Role descriptions
- Policies and procedures
- Risk management and quality assurance processes
- Alignment with current legislation, accreditation standards, and organizational best practices
- Monitor and evaluate volunteer programs to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with Best Practices and accreditation standards
- Coordinate volunteer program evaluation processes annually to assess program impact, volunteer satisfaction, and organizational needs
- Contribute to organizational policies, planning, and compliance activities related to volunteerism
- Liaise with leadership to ensure volunteer roles evolve in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction
- Monitor and maintain appropriate volunteer levels across all programs requiring volunteer support, including but not limited to:

- Brain Wave Café
- Minds in Motion
- Power of Music
- Aging and Dementia Simulation (ADS)
- Office Administration and Special Projects
- Collaborate with relevant program staff to anticipate volunteer needs and address recruitment or retention gaps proactively
- Support the supervision and orientation of student placements, ensuring students are integrated as part of the broader volunteer team and receive appropriate mentorship and guidance
