**Job Description** Mission**

We are looking for an individual who wants to be challenged and is ready to join a dynamic team that is rapidly expanding. This position will be based out of our Vancouver offices. The role of the Distribution Lead is to provide design specifications and drawings for outside plant infrastructure (poles, wires, vault, duct bank, and cable) in accordance with engineering principles, guidelines, policies, and safety standards.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, recommending safe engineering designs to support successful operations and/or project completion.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of Distribution engineering services to be provided, establishing the basic design criteria with the client, approving all related technical documentation, and assessing and reporting on work progress against standards, objectives, and specifications to support completion of projects safely, with quality, within budget and on time.
- Exercise independent judgement and critical thinking in the analysis and problem solving of highly complex, undefined, critical and broad scope problems. Carry out options analysis and associated risk evaluations.
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations on intricate technical matters, establish design bases and criteria, and oversee the management of resources to support major utility projects
- Provide specialized expertise in Distribution and actively mentor, coach, and set high standards for work performance, influencing the establishment of standards, frameworks, and targets
- Exercise innovation to propose creative modifications to improve work processes, guidelines, instructions, procedures and standards where possible.
- Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages from 12kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment, including telecommunication towers.
- Develop design work packages with scope, duration, and effort estimates
- Design transmission stations from 25kV to 500kV, including structural analysis/detailing for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber structures
- Perform structural design for substation facilities like buildings, equipment supports/foundations, termination structures, manholes/vaults, duct banks, and seismic analysis
- Conduct civil design/analysis for substation site development, access roads, embankments, drainage, spill containment systems

**Qualifications**
- 10+ years experience in an electrical engineering role with specific Distribution knowledge ideally within British Columbia
- Experience related to expertise in Overhead - and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV and in the electrical, mechanical, civil, and operating requirements of components used to build such systems.
- Extensive knowledge of power system analysis, protection and control and automation, project delivery, policies, practices and procedures as applicable to Distribution Engineering
- Good communications skills to adequately articulate and discuss technical options and ability to present proposed solutions to a wide range of audiences, adapting to the different understanding levels of the audience.
- Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards.
- Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software.
- Well-developed technical writing, analytical, interpersonal, and presentation skills
