**Major Responsibilities**:
The Web Content Coordinator will work with professional and technical teams providing a wide range of creative services in support of divisional strategic objectives. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Writes and edits creative copy for a variety of interactive media including the internet, intranet, social media, multimedia presentations, and other promotional tools as required
- Ensures that content within the division's internet and intranet sites is integrated, accurate and current through ongoing content reviews and regular evaluation of web use statistics and client feedback, and provides critical analysis
- Consults with business units and provides leadership and support to project teams to determine business unit information and web-based service needs and assists in identifying solutions to meet business requirements
- Develops, redesigns, and continuously improves workflows, methodologies and processes for consistent maintenance and development of quality information and content
- Plans, executes and documents user interviews and usability tests
- Creates and presents user personas, user experience scenarios and test cases
- Develops, documents, implements and monitors adherence to web development and information management standards including style guides, metadata standards, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and other classifications systems for navigation or other categorization needs
- Assists with the maintenance and development of content libraries consisting of information and design assets in the form of text, photography, graphics, video and audio
- Ensures that content providers are trained in writing for the web by setting standards, evaluating training needs, developing training programs and materials and delivering training programs
- Assists in the development of marketing and communications strategies, including coordinated workplans and editorial schedules across multiple channels, including social media
- Periodically reviews web-based systems for effectiveness and efficiency and proposes and provides leadership as appropriate in the development and support of new web-based products and services as the division's information needs evolve
- Ensures that legal and legislated standards are upheld (e.g. the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Trade-marks Act and the Copyright Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act)
**Key Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function (i.e. communications, marketing, web design/development, navigation and management) or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Considerable experience in content development for the web, site design, web site construction, navigation and information management, combined with a strong working knowledge of traditional and new media technologies
- Considerable experience writing/editing content for the web, digital marketing and communications, in addition to optimizing documents and files so they are fully compliant with legislated accessibility standards (e.g., PDF remediation, closed captioning, etc.)
- Experience using HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript, graphic formats, CSS, popular web plug-ins, web site authoring and management such as WordPress web content management and related information repository and database environments
**You must also have**:
- Familiarity with formal and informal usability testing, user research and heuristic analysis, user scenario writing, documentation, test design and Quality Assurance scripting and translating user research into design decisions
- Familiarity with the Adobe Web Creative Suite tools, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash, DreamWeaver, AfterEffects
- Ability to work with web browsers across multiple platforms, navigational issues and the constraints involved in designing for online media
- Well developed interpersonal skills: proven ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels; exceptional technical, verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a good consulting relationship with stakeholders and vendors
- Extensive knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)'s requirements and standards applicable to web content and communications, accessibility solutions and W3C standards and guidelines
