Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Registration Department in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Provide well informed direction, advice and support on the day-to-day registration related issues, situations, questions and other matters which may be serious, complex or unique that cannot be handled independently at the Registration Officer level.Determine matters which require further escalation to the Director, for decision, direction or coaching including the review of documents, various approvals, policy and regulatory interpretation, reminders and procedure support. In addition, ensures that the Scotiabank Group employees receive high quality registration support. Provides relevant reporting as appropriate to: Director, Registration; Compliance Department and Business Lines
Maintain communication within Registration department and member firms through the sharing of information on an on-going basis. Strong interpersonal skills are required with an ability to communicate with individuals at different levels, maintain relationships across the Scotiabank Group and regulators, and to work as part of a cross functional team. Must deal with sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
Execute various administrative functions to maintain the operation of the SRD. Provide reporting and feedback to the Director, Registration on licensed personnel and any correspondence with Regulators, compliance departments, branches or individuals. Identify any areas of deficiencies in the registration process to management.
Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues
effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education/Experience
- University degree (Business) or College certificate
- 3-5 years' work experience in the financial services industry as a Registration Officer.
- Relevant working knowledge of Canadian and US Regulatory policies and rules
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and multi-tasking skills required
- Strong knowledge of National Instrument 33-103and 33-109 and related companion policy
