**Position: Product Development Manager - Protective**
**About the Position**
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Design and develop new Protective hockey products which improve performance, create value, and increase sales.
- Develop proprietary and patentable technologies. Successfully use technology to develop new and innovative materials, products, prototypes, and samples. Test, evaluate, and certify new technologies in conjunction with product launch plans.
- Participate in brainstorming and development team meetings, which can include design engineering, marketing, sales, production, finance, etc. Effectively communicate and provide design expertise to internal and external customers. Integrate development and evaluation efforts with Sales and Engineering to facilitate the transition to market. Participate in the concurrent design process with Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
- Direct and oversee fabrication and testing of new prototype parts. Review, evaluate and modify designs as appropriate per prototype test results. Establish final product specifications and tooling requirements. Oversee and manage tool design, solid models, and mold manufacturing to ensure process integrity and manufacturing process capability. Prepare final engineering specifications, drawings, etc. Effectively transfer approved designs into production at True or contract manufacture or supplier facilities.
- Occasional travel required both domestic and international. Required travel documents or ability to obtain them required (i.e. CDN passport, Chinese Visa, etc.)
**Key Skills**:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in engineering / industrial / product design - preferably sporting goods structures in a high unit volume, high growth manufacturing environment. Hockey industry experience preferred.
- Must have worked in a hands-on development environment and be familiar with related manufacturing, processes, and test equipment.
- Participated in a team environment in a high-growth situation where effective team participation and resource allocation was critical to success.
- Should have strong analytical skills and an intuitive feel for engineering sciences.
- Must be organized and have strong program management skills that enable successful definition, coordination, and completion of tasks. Ability to clearly define, prioritize and track the status and objectives of multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully with all levels throughout the organization.
- Strong computer design skills and level of proficiency.
- Should be a strong team player and be able to foster team cohesiveness in others. Must be capable and comfortable crossing organizational boundaries in order to successfully and completely integrate new products.
- Good communication skills and a self-starter that requires a minimum of supervision. A person whom we can put in front of customers and win their respect.

**Education**:
- BS in Engineering or BA in Business/Marketing or equivalent level of experience.
