**Current Rate of Pay**: Min $30.84- Max $ 38.56
**Current Shifts**: Days (Monday - Friday)
**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, Organizational Development and Employee Health Services, this position is accountable for a variety of duties of the HR Department. The HR Assistant is the first point of contact for both public inquiries and internal inquiries from staff, managers and contractors for Human Resources services. The HR Assistant is responsible for creating the electronic employee file, ensuring its integrity and accuracy at all times. The Human Resources Assistant administers the effective and efficient recruitment, hiring, assignment and retention of both non-union and unionized positions in the hospital in order to meet the Hospital’s current and future staffing needs. Demonstrating excellent customer service, the HR Assistant develops and maintains effective working relationships by working collaboratively with hiring Directors.
In addition the HR Assistant provides support to the rest of the HR team, supporting core HR functions related to Recruitment, Benefits Administration and Labour Relations, including the administrative processes related to onboarding, off-boarding, employee changes in Guelph General Hospital’s HRIS and filing system (both electronic and paper based) and compensation, benefits, employment, payroll, retirements etc.

**Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities**:
- Post-Secondary education in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and relevant Human Resources experience required
- 2-3 years’ experience in Human Resources required, preferably in a unionized, healthcare setting, including demonstrated experience with staffing and recruitment practices
- Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to employment (i.e. Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code)
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with Directors and colleagues
- Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive issues in a professional manner
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- High level of initiative and self-direction
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians
- Recent experience using a HRIS
