**POSITION**DESCRIPTION**:
Reporting to the Director of Member Services, the Manager of Action and Campaigns is the key driver of workplace, bargaining, political and community-based campaigns. This position requires a person who is rooted in social justice, deeply believes in the power of member leadership and engagement, and has a strategic mindset in relation to responding to the challenges of today, and the opportunities of tomorrow.
As a campaign strategist, this position will be responsible for campaign ideation and creation, ensuring our campaigns and actions are based on the organizational strategic objectives, and in concert with ongoing bargaining priorities. This position is also responsible for executing and growing our political action committee initiatives, political education and community-based engagement. This role will help develop and support the ideation and execution of internal organizing campaigns and programs.
Overall, this position is tasked with leading member-centric, activist and militant campaigns and actions for the organization.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- ** Strategic Campaign Planning**
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategic plans for workplace, bargaining, and political action campaigns.
- Drive and promote a member-centric culture, ensuring all campaigns are centered around member leadership, growth, ownership and activism.
- Deliver campaign plans that are centered around actions in the workplace, community and against the government.
- Maintain a well-rounded situational awareness of issue-based campaigns within the healthcare sector, labour movement and community.
- Prioritize anti-racism, anti-oppression and social justice principles into campaigns and actions.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify campaign objectives, targets, and timelines.
- Utilize data and analytics to inform campaign strategies and measure success.
- ** Workplace Campaign Leadership**
- Lead initiatives to mobilize and engage members in workplace campaigns.
- Working closely with the field teams, develop and implement creative and effective internal organizing strategies to build union strength at the workplace level.
- Coordinate with the field teams to address workplace issues and promote collective action.
- ** Bargaining Campaign Coordination**
- Collaborate with the Director of Bargaining Department to align bargaining campaigns with broader union goals.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for successful bargaining outcomes, integrating member mobilization and communication strategies.
- Provide leadership in managing collective actions and solidarity efforts during bargaining processes.
- ** Political Action Campaigns**
- Continue the Political Action Committee plan and leadership academy
- Lead political action campaigns at the local, provincial, and national levels to advance the union's legislative and policy priorities.
- Mobilize members for grassroots political activities, including voter education and advocacy.
- ** Member Engagement and Empowerment**
- Develop and implement initiatives to empower and educate union members on issues related to workplace rights, collective bargaining, and political advocacy.
- Foster a culture of member participation and activism through training, communication, and outreach.
- ** Coalition Building**
- Build and maintain strategic alliances with community organizations, labour partners, and advocacy groups.
- Collaborate on joint campaigns and initiatives that align with the union's mission and values.
- Other duties as assigned.
**EDUCATION**
At SEIU Healthcare, we understand that the best people do not always have the same access and opportunities to education, and while post-secondary education is always preferred, we want to make sure nothing stands in the way of finding the right person.
**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in union organizing, campaign management, or related roles.
