**Job Summary**:
The Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire sales operation, including both new and used vehicle departments. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in automotive sales, customer service excellence, and team management. The Sales Manager is accountable for driving sales volume, maximizing gross profit per vehicle, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. As a team player, the Sales Manager strives to develop collaborative relationships throughout the dealership. The Sales Manager is focused on upholding our dealership’s brand values and standards to create an unparalleled guest experience in the sales department.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Customer Satisfaction:
- Ensure all customers receive exceptional service throughout their car buying experience.
- Address and resolve customer concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Implement and monitor processes to improve customer satisfaction scores.
- Train and mentor the sales team to consistently deliver superior customer service.
- Sales Volume:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for both new and used vehicles.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
- Maintain an optimal inventory mix to meet customer demand across both departments.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create and implement effective promotions and advertising campaigns.
- Review monthly goals and targets with the General Manager and discuss areas for improvement.
- Gross Profit Per Vehicle:
- Set and achieve gross profit targets for each vehicle sold, balancing competitiveness with profitability.
- Oversee pricing strategies for both new and used vehicles to maximize gross profit.
- Analyze sales metrics and financial reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Provide training to the sales team on negotiation, closing techniques, and value proposition.
- Inventory Management:
- Oversee the acquisition, reconditioning, and display of used vehicles, ensuring quality and appeal.
- Manage the ordering and stocking of new vehicles, aligning with market demand and dealership goals.
- Ensure accurate and efficient management of inventory across both departments.
- Implement strategies to reduce aged inventory and improve turnover rates.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing sales team for both new and used vehicle sales.
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive, motivating, and collaborative work environment.
- Encourage continuous learning and professional development among the sales staff.
- Operational Management:
- Ensure compliance with all dealership policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across the sales department.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales, customer interactions, and inventory.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., finance, service) to ensure seamless dealership operations.
- Manage and control expenses within the sales department budget.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on sales performance, customer satisfaction, inventory levels, and other key metrics.
- Analyze data to identify trends and make informed, data-driven decisions.
- Provide insights and strategic recommendations to senior management.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience in automotive sales management, preferably with experience in both new and used car sales.
- Strong understanding of sales processes, customer relationship management, and automotive financing.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse sales team. Experience managing teams of at least 5-10 people.
- Proficiency in using dealership management software and other relevant tools. (DealerSocket and PBS experience preferred.)
- Ability to problem-solve and a high attention to detail.
- Hold a valid OMVIC license.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (preferred).
