Job DescriptionTransportation and Utilities is looking for a permanent full-time Area Grader Operator for Elmworth area. The successful candidate will have the ability to perform finishing work. This position may also operate additional pieces of heavy equipment such as; dozers, trucks, excavators, as well as perform general labour duties on an as needed basis.The successful applicant will be a team player with good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. You will be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and be able to contribute positively to the team environment. This position works out of the West County Shop in Beaverlodge and will have a specific area to grade.QualificationsMinimum valid class 5 Driver's License is required; Class 1 or 3 an asset;Acceptable driver's abstractPhysically capable of performing general labour (such as power saw work, sign replacement)Ability to complete maintenance and repairs as requiredAbility to climb up and down machine to fuel and service; change blades as required, unbolt and remove worn blades and replace with new ones. Note: new blades weight approximately 50 to 80 lbsAbility to interact with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful mannerAbility to sit in the machine for extended periods of time;Ability to complete online paperwork and keep records of road maintenance.Experience with Microsoft 365 and an ability to use computersAdditional InformationWhat We Offer: The County of Grande Prairie provides a competitive compensation package, including benefits, LAPP pension and vacation.
