We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Intern, OPEX – FP&A to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team. This role will support the operating expense (OPEX) management processes and provide hands-on experience in financial reporting, planning, and analysis. Work Term Duration: Fall 2025 - Sept 8, 2025 to December 19, 2025Location: DECIEM Head Office -15 Fraser Ave, Toronto, ON M6K 1Y7Hourly Rate is YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE Support the FP&A team in planning and tracking operating expenses by preparing regular financial reports and reconciling data for accuracy.Assist in maintaining and enhancing financial templates and simple models, helping to streamline forecasting and budgeting activities.Contribute to the budget and forecast cycles by coordinating the collection of inputs from various departments, ensuring timely and complete submissions.Collaborate with team members across finance and operational departments to gather and validate data used for planning and reporting.Communicate clearly and professionally when requesting updates or clarification from business partners, balancing accuracy with timelines.Adapt to shifting priorities by providing ad hoc support for one-off projects or time-sensitive tasks related to expense management or variance analysis.Apply foundational knowledge of finance and accounting to support data entry, analysis, and reporting.Utilize Microsoft Excel to manipulate, analyze, and present financial data, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and charts.Learn and follow internal processes for budgeting and forecasting, with exposure to basic financial systems or templates used by the FP&A team.Report to a designated FP&A Manager or Senior Analyst, receiving regular feedback and guidance on tasks and deliverables.Work under close supervision, with the opportunity to build independence over time as familiarity with processes grows.Participate in team meetings and finance check-ins to stay informed on priorities and contribute updates on assigned responsibilities. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE: Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numerical data.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in formulas, pivot tables, and basic data visualization.Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.A proactive, organized, and eager-to-learn mindset with a willingness to ask questions and take initiative.
