UX Designer

Cella by Randstad Digital is searching for a talented Intermediate Design Strategist on behalf of our client, a leading financial institution, to join their Enterprise Innovation and Design team in Toronto. This 6-month contract role is focused on the Insurance Journeys sector.In this role, you will act as a strategic design lead, navigating ambiguity to uncover unmet customer needs and crafting "North Star" visions that shape long-term product roadmaps. You will work within a collaborative, 5 person team of researchers and designers to bridge the gap between human-centered design and business impact. This is a hybrid opportunity, requiring 3 days in the office in downtown TorontoAdvantagesHigh-Level Exposure: Gain significant experience in the insurance field while presenting vision-state presentations directly to Senior Management and Executives.Impactful Work: Lead the experience strategy for complex, large-scale consumer journeys that affect millions of users.Collaborative Environment: Work within a specialized "Innovation and Design" business unit that values cross-disciplinary knowledge sharing.Growth Potential: This position offers the possibility of both contract extension and permanent conversion.Modern Workspace: Enjoy working from a brand-new, corporate locationResponsibilitiesStrategy Leadership: Lead and own the customer and employee experience design strategy for specific insurance journeys, creating journey maps and service blueprints.Vision Crafting: Develop compelling "North Star" vision types and translate them into 3-5 year strategic product roadmaps.Stakeholder Management: Spend approximately 35% of your time interacting with business, product, and technology partners to ensure pragmatic and impactful solutions.Human-Centered Design: Guide multi-disciplinary teams through discovery plans, user research, and experience prototyping to prioritize high-impact opportunities.Executive Communication: Eloquently communicate design rationale and business impact to senior leadership through high-quality presentations.Team Mentorship: Provide hands-on design direction and feedback to colleagues in user research and UX design to maintain a high bar for qualityQualificationsEducation: A degree in Design, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related design discipline.Experience: 5-7 years of proven experience conceptualizing and leading strategic work for complex experiences at an enterprise level.Business Acumen: Strong ability to translate design initiatives into clear business impact and ROI.Disciplinary Knowledge: A solid understanding of experience strategy, design research, interaction design, and visual design (minimum 5 years).Soft Skills: High attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to influence others to reach a shared consensus.Technical/Methodological: Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum) and building impactful AI experiences is a strong asset.Industry Background: Previous experience within Financial Institutions or Insurance companies is highly preferred.SummaryThis is a premier opportunity for a strategist who wants to challenge traditional thinking and put the customer at the heart of the insurance industry.
