OPERATIONS MANAGERActivity sector: Pulp and PaperSite: KamloopsSalary Range: $134,980 - $224,960Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour dayshiftYOUR ROLEReporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will lead and optimize pulp manufacturing at the Kamloops mill. They will provide leadership to a group of more than 150 salaried and union personnel. They will coach, develop and evaluate performance of direct reports by way of the Employee Development and Performance Appraisal Review (EDPAR), and promote the Kruger Way, culture and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will have an advanced level of knowledge and a demonstrated track record in leading and managing world-class safety performance, expertise in pulp production, human relations, continuous improvement and a strong technical background. This position oversees the Fibreline, Power & Recovery, and Logistic areas.YOUR RESPONSIBILITIESüResponsible for managing operational safety, environment, quality, budgeting and costs while achieving production goalsüDeveloping and implementing operational strategies, managing teams, fostering continuous improvement, and contributing to the overall profitability and growth of the operationüCo-ordinating with Operations personnel to ensure that the Kamloops Pulp Business System is understood, implemented, continuously monitored and improvedüEnsuring personnel are trained in job duties and aware of the responsibilities, authorities, and interrelationships of personnel who manage, perform, and verify work affecting their areasüResponsible for production planning, including shutdown schedulingüResponsible for ensuring commitment to continuous improvement and prevention of pollutionüResponsible for the Operations Business Systems which assures compliance to the ISO 9001:2015 AND ISO 14001:2015 standards. Participates in the ISO Management Review processüOversees corrective and preventive action proceduresüInvolvement in emergency and safety response and preparedness, has authority to initiate mill or mill area shutdown or slowdown based on environmental emergency or compliance issuesüResponsible for the integrity of the work processes and practices within the Power & Recovery and Pulping Business SystemsüResponsible for warehouse management and shipmentsüResponsible for reporting of key metrics to site and corporate stakeholdersüParticipating in community and stakeholder engagementYOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIESüStrong technical knowledge in Kraft pulpingüStrong mechanical aptitude, expertise in reliability and advanced knowledge of continuous improvement principles and techniquesüStrong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oralüSkilled in change management, people leadership, and developing a teamüAdvanced knowledge of capital budgets and long-range planningüKnowledge in pulp salesüAdvanced knowledge in shipping and logisticsüWorking knowledge of BC Hydro rate structures and purchase agreementsYOUR QUALIFICATIONSüYou hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related fieldüYou have a minimum of 7 years of leadership experience in pulp operationsWHY WORK AT KRUGER?At Kruger, we believe in giving our employees the space to grow in a dynamic and stimulating environment, to encourage their development, and to enrich their professional lives.
