Unit SummaryThe Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) will provide individual and/or group communication interventions, and augmentative communication services to children with communication needs under the supervision of Speech Language Pathologists. The CDA will work within a multi-disciplinary team setting. Services may be offered on-site or in the community (such as preschools/ daycares/ schools).Position SummaryDevelopmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation is a portfolio within McMaster Children's Hospital. It is comprised of many different programs providing outpatient services to children (and some adults) with developmental, emotional or behavioural, physical or communication needs.Schedule Work HoursMonday - Friday days: (some evenings or Saturdays may be required)This position is temporary until June 2026Qualifications1. Communicative Disorders Assistant Diploma2. Experience working with children with special needs (including physical and developmental disabilities)3. Experience with providing group and individual interventions to children4. Experience working with augmentative communication users5. Extensive computer skills including use of Board Maker Application6. Experience with a variety of office computer applications (Word, email, etc)7. Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment8. Demonstrated ability to multi-task9. Demonstrated ability to be energetic, flexible, adaptable, organized and reliable10. Access to reliable car and willingness to drive11. Willingness to participate in a criminal reference screening process12. Fluency in French will be considered an asset13.
