As a result, Bold alumni are people who make a difference wherever they go.The TMU Bold operate 8 varsity teams on which 180 student-athletes compete nationally in U SPORTS, and an additional 22 departmentally supported teams which compete regionally and nationally in intercollegiate competition.TMU Recreation is committed to supporting student health and wellness. There are over 400,000 visits each year to the RAC (Recreation & Athletic Centre) and the MAC (Mattamy Athletic Centre) where weight and cardio rooms, recreational studios, gymnasiums, pool, track, squash courts, arena, saunas and more can be accessed Through a dedicated fee that is part of tuition, students gain access to both facilities and all weekly fitness classes and intramurals. Over 34 competitive and recreational clubs are registered, and over 4,500 students participated in intramural programs in 2019. The Opportunity Join TMU Athletics as Manager, Student-Athlete Success leading the design, development, implementation and evaluation of TMU Bold student-athlete support services that facilitate holistic student development. In this role, you will be responsible for both internal and external stakeholder relationships and represent the interests of the department of Athletics and its student-athletes with respect to enhancing available support and resources as well as the development of external engagement opportunities. As a member of the Athletics leadership team, plays a key role in reinforcing the values of equity, diversity and inclusion as well as fostering a safe sport environment. The Manager will also play a key role in the development of annual strategic goals and associated collection and presentation of assessment data towards key performance indicators.Key responsibilities: Oversees the development and implementation of student-athlete services and community engagement initiatives to support a holistic academic and athletic developmental experience. Connects, integrates and facilitates strong relationships with stakeholders to enable the development and offering of programs and activities that meet the needs of student-athletes in all faculties, students from under-represented populations, international students and students who are looking for additional support to balance academic and athletic commitments.Serves as a member of the Athletics leadership team. Contributes to the development and fulfillment of annual department strategic goals, the creation of work plans that translate these goals into clear, actionable priorities for staff, and consultation on related department-wide issues and initiatives.Provides leadership and strategic oversight in the development of external engagement opportunities for student-athletes. Ensures alignment with department objectives, adherence to University guidelines and fulsome consultation with internal stakeholders, while upholding the best interests and well-being of student-athletes.Manages and supervises staff, assigns and prioritizes tasks, establishes goals, sets expectations and evaluates performance. Hires, trains, develops and performance manages assigned staff. Monitors performance and provides feedback to staff on performance. Disciplines, carries out corrective action and makes recommendations on termination, as appropriate. QualificationsTo help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:Completion of a post-secondary university degree in an academic discipline that is transferable to the role (e.g. counselling, education, etc.)A minimum of 5 years of administrative experience in a university setting with exposure to learning support and advising, financial support, registrarial services and other areas of campus life.Experience and a comprehensive understanding of intercollegiate sport including policies guiding participation and the provision of awards and financial support.Experience supervising staff in a unionized environment.Strong communication skills highlighted by a demonstrated comfort in building interpersonal relationships as well as presenting to small or large groups.Knowledge of the concerns and lifestyles of university students with a strong understanding of the principles of student development, retention and success.Strong understanding of the unique experiences of university student-athletes.Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
