Security Guard - Full Time - St. Mary's General Hospital (WRHN)Site Overview: SMGH is a 197-bed comprehensive community hospital located in Kitchener, Ontario, and the second largest acute care facility in the St. Joseph’s Health System. It serves Waterloo, Wellington, Dufferin, Grey-Bruce and surrounding regions, providing 24/7 emergency care, cardiac and respiratory services, outpatient/day surgery, and general medicine.Position: Full-Time Security GuardSite: Waterloo Regional Health Network, 911 Queen's Blvd, Kitchener, ON N2M 1B2Hours: Rotating Continental (0700-1900/1900-0700 hrs)Payrate: $20.24hr.Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement after 88 hoursPosting Date: Jan 26, 2026Internal Posting Closing Date: Jan 30, 2026External Posting Closing Date: Jan 30, 2026Key responsibilities: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the siteOperate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authoritiesMonitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areasAct quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuationsGreeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and proceduresDe-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionallyDocument daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
