A residents-first approach to care and service will ensure Kiknu is supporting independence, promoting dignity and placing value on the choices for how elders want to live their lives. Shannex will act as the operating partner alongside the First Nations community of Eskasoni in the operation of this new home. Together, we will ensure the community delivers exceptional service and care while honouring Mi’kmaw culture, values and traditions. We are searching for an Administrator to join our Kiknu Long Term Care team in Eskasoni, Nova Scotia. The Administrator plays a vital role in overseeing daily operations, ensuring exc Elder care, honouring cultural practices, and nurturing a positive and supportive environment for staff. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the long-term care home Ensure compliance with provincial regulations and standards of care Foster a culture rooted in respect, dignity, cultural safety, and Elder-centered care Manage budgets, staffing, and resource allocation Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, community partners, and Elders’ Councils Lead quality improvement initiatives Promote staff development and retention through mentorship, training, and cultural learning Qualifications An Indigenous Leader from Unama’ki, with preference given to Community Members of Eskasoni Band Current Registered Nurse Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in long-term care, healthcare administration, or relevant managerial experience Knowledge of Nova Scotia’s long-term care regulations and standards Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex operations, and build strong community relationships Solid communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Leadership in Continuing Care Certificate or willingness to obtain Proficiency in Mi’kmaw considered a strong asset Valid NS Driver’s Licence and access to transportation Ability to provide a Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening About Us A new long term care home for elders located on the Eskasoni First Nation.
