Intermediate Infrastructure Server Analyst (Windows / VMware)Project Name: Vulnerability RemediationOverviewReporting to the Team Lead, Server Operations within Technology and Innovation, the Intermediate Infrastructure Server Analyst (Windows / VMware) is responsible for the day-to-day operational support, maintenance, and remediation of the Government of Alberta’s enterprise Windows virtual server environment.This role focuses on supporting a VMware-based virtualized hosting infrastructure, ensuring system stability, security, and performance while contributing to vulnerability remediation initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical troubleshooting capabilities, excellent client service skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.All work must be performed in accordance with Government of Alberta (GoA) policies, standards, procedures, and security requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide operational support for Windows-based virtual server infrastructure in a VMware ESXi environment.Perform proactive monitoring, problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of server-related issues.Execute hardware and operating system installations, upgrades, patches, and migrations.Plan and support software and hardware upgrades and vulnerability remediation activities.Maintain and administer Windows Server operating systems and associated infrastructure software.Develop, update, and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational guides.Assist with capacity management and performance optimization within the virtual server environment.Participate in change windows and after-hours maintenance activities as required.Provide cross-training and knowledge transfer to other members of the Server Operations team.Deliver responsive, customer-focused service while supporting business and operational requirements.Work Environment & ScheduleStandard hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta Time, Monday to Friday, excluding provincial holidays.The role is primarily remote, with an expectation to attend the office one (1) day per month or as required with reasonable notice.All work must be completed from within Canada due to network and data security requirements.The Government of Alberta will provide all required equipment.Security & ComplianceA Standard Background Check, including a criminal record check, is required prior to commencement.The successful candidate must complete all mandatory Government of Alberta training, including (but not limited to):Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP)Security Awareness TrainingRequired QualificationsEducationThe proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the Government of Alberta’s approved education equivalencies.ExperienceMinimum 3 years of experience supporting Windows Server environments (Windows Server 2019 and/or 2022).Minimum 2 years of experience provisioning and supporting VMware ESXi virtual infrastructure.Minimum 2 years of experience performing Windows Server upgrades and migrations.Experience working in an enterprise IT operations or server support role.Additional RequirementsAbility to work from within Edmonton and surrounding areas as required.Ability to work evenings, weekends, or during scheduled maintenance/change windows when necessary.Nice-to-Have QualificationsExperience automating administrative tasks within Windows Server and VMware vCenter environments.Experience deploying updates using centralized patch management tools.Experience managing resource capacity within VMware ESXi.Hands-on experience with HP ProLiant servers and HP Synergy Frames, including management via HP OneView.Experience using ServiceNow or comparable IT service management/ticketing systems.Experience working in complex, multi-team IT environments requiring prioritization and coordination.Additional InformationAnticipated interviews will be held January 12–14, 2026.This role was previously filled by a contractor; however, selection will be based on identifying the best-qualified candidate.Contract extensions may be available, up to a maximum of six (6) months.Spirit Omega is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
