We are looking for a Facilities Manager - Commercial Building Operations to join our Commercial team in Yellowknife, NT. This position supervises 5-10 building operators and reports to the Commercial Property Manager. This management position plans, organizes, directs, controls and evaluates the general operation of a portfolio of commercial, retail, and warehouse buildings. While the position focuses on operations, providing support to administration, security, and leasing functions, is necessary from time to time. Responsibilities: Responsible for providing supervision and management of a team of commercial building operators in Yellowknife and Inuvik, including spot checking building logsEnsure daily, weekly & monthly inspections are carried out in building equipment and 5th class plantsSet up and execute a preventative maintenance program for all plants with a combination of in-house personnel and contractor's i.e. HVAC and boiler servicingOrganize an after-hours schedule and ensure the position is properly coveredSupervise the work of contractors (snow clearing, garbage disposal, janitorial, etc.)Organize annual boiler service, fire alarm service, sprinkler service, generator set service, and other legally obligated certifications as requiredWork with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure safe and reliable operation of Northview's facilities, including attending safety meetings and submitting reports as necessaryManage tenant improvements for new and existing tenants. Prepare RFS (Request For Service) for landlord and tenant authorizationReview and approve tenant drawings and signage requestsConduct move-out appointments with expiring tenants and ensure the premises are in good conditionEnsure all tenant work orders are addressed in a timely fashion in accordance with standards set by NorthviewPerform regular inspections of buildings and propertiesManage projects from the building improvement budget (recoverable and non-recoverable)Prepare annual budgets in collaboration with the Commercial Property Manager and the Regional DirectorMentor your direct reports to improve their overall job confidence, where necessaryMaintain a professional relationship with inspectors and contractorsCreate and update a contractor list monthlyOccasional travel to Inuvik, estimated to be twice a year, but could be more frequentOther duties as assigned by the manager Qualifications: Must have a valid driver's licenseHolds a valid 5th Class Power Engineer CertificateExperience with building automation systemsBasic computer proficiencyAble to work independently and is a self-starterWorking knowledge work order management systemsA strategic and operational thinker with a proven track record of accomplishments, outstanding analytical skills, decision making, and team building skillsStrong leadership and communication (both written and verbal) skillsMust be able to analyze data, including financial and technical, from a variety of sources Benefits: Competitive payExtended health care including medical, dental, and vision coverageLife insurance, drug coverage, and wellness programsDiscounts on rent at Northview propertiesVacation Travel Assistance for Northern employees If your background matches the qualifications listed above and you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the communities we serve, please submit your resume in confidence.
