Housekeeping Manager

The Team Leader Housekeeping is a key supervisory role within the Housekeeping Department. This individual is responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating the daily activities of the housekeeping team to ensure cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of all guest rooms and public areas. The Team Leader will work closely with housekeeping staff to provide excellent service to guests while ensuring that all housekeeping operations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership & Supervision:- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of housekeeping staff, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and work in a collaborative and efficient manner.
- Provide guidance and support to housekeeping staff by assigning daily tasks, ensuring that all areas are covered.
- Conduct daily briefings to communicate important updates, guest preferences, and any special requests.
- Monitor staff performance, provide on-the-job training, and offer constructive feedback.
- Evaluate staff performance regularly, conduct periodic performance reviews, and recommend actions for improvement or promotions.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment that encourages staff engagement, productivity, and satisfaction.
- Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and any other facilities assigned.
- Ensure housekeeping staff follows established procedures for cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing areas, maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene.
- Conduct inspections of all rooms and public areas to ensure they meet cleanliness standards and identify any maintenance or repair needs.
- Ensure proper usage and care of cleaning equipment and materials.
- Manage housekeeping supplies inventory, ensuring an adequate stock of cleaning products, linens, and amenities. Report needs to the housekeeping manager.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules and ensure they are followed by all team members.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by ensuring rooms are prepared and serviced according to guest preferences and the property’s standards.
- Handle guest inquiries and complaints related to housekeeping services in a professional and efficient manner, ensuring timely resolutions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the hotel’s operations, guest profiles, and preferences to enhance personalized service.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Conduct training on the safe handling of chemicals and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to and enforce hotel policies regarding hygiene, cleanliness, and sanitation.
- Maintain proper documentation related to safety standards and any incidents or accidents.
- Assist in preparing and managing the housekeeping department’s daily schedules, staffing, and assignments.
- Ensure that housekeeping staff records (attendance, leave, performance) are up to date.
- Report maintenance issues and guest requests to the appropriate departments.
- Prepare and submit regular reports regarding housekeeping operations, team performance, and inventory levels to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Provide on-the-job training to new and existing housekeeping staff on cleaning techniques, guest interaction, safety protocols, and proper use of equipment.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new cleaning products, and technologies that could enhance the department’s efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging staff to develop new skills and advance their careers.
- High School diploma or equivalent; further education or certifications in hospitality management is a plus.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in housekeeping, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in a hotel or hospitality setting is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to delegate tasks effectively and manage multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and techniques.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in using basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and housekeeping management software (e.g., Housekeeping or Property Management Systems).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
