Research Assistant, Paediatrics

The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Principal Investigator.
The Research Assistant will help engage with our clinical sites and stakeholders to facilitate quality data collection and achievement of research deliverables for an ongoing multi-site clinical trial. This position includes some onsite work at Calgary NICUs (Foothills Medical Centre, South Health Campus, Peter Lougheed Centre, and Rockyview General Hospital). The candidate should be able to provide own transportation to Foothills Medical Centre, South Health Campus, Peter Lougheed Centre, and Rockyview General Hospital as required for onsite work.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Clinical site support including
- Data abstraction from electronic or paper records
- Electronic data entry into project specific database
- Record accurate and detailed records in a timely manner
- Work closely with participating site research team
- Travel to Calgary NICUs (Foothills, South Health, Peter Lougheed, and Rockyview)
- Participate in bi-weekly and ad hoc team meetings to discuss concerns and review tasks
- Degree in one of the health sciences disciplines (BSc student or equivalent)
- 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred
- A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Experience with data collection and database entry in the context of clinical research preferred; knowledge of medical terminology required
- Experience with REDCap is required
- A valid Class 5 driver's license with proven good driving record (abstract required)
- Able to provide own transportation to Foothills Medical Centre, South Health Campus, Peter Lougheed Centre, and Rockyview General Hospital as required for onsite work
- Thoroughness, accuracy, and a strong attention to detail is required
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, verbally and written
- Desire to learn and effectively use various software programs
- Ability to learn and work effectively in a hospital setting
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures is desirable
