The Hospital

The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273-bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people and is located in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals and Level 1 Trauma Centres, RIH receives over 250 major trauma and 72,000 ED visits per year. The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower opened at RIH in the summer of 2022. Among other services, the tower includes child and adolescent mental-health and substance-use inpatient unit as well as a 30-bed general psychiatric unit (20 general and 10 high observation beds and 3 seclusion beds).

Compensation

Compensation Type Alternative Payment Arrangement Estimated Remuneration You’ll have the potential to maximize your earnings as a hospitalist based on the provincial APP clinical service contract’s hourly rate of $187.38, plus additional incentives, including MOCAP level 2. As a full-time hospitalist at RIH, you’ll receive a minimum of $323,792 annually, with the opportunity to make even more Our full-time hospitalists work an average of 1,728 hours per year (that's 24 weeks at 72 hours per week). There are also lucrative shift premiums — you'll get paid even more for your evening, weekend, and overnight shifts. After hours premiums include $25 per hour extra for evening shifts from 6pm-11pm, $25 per hour extra for weekend day shifts, and $35 per hour extra for overnight shifts from 11pm-8am. Physician Overhead There is small overhead payment of $3.48 per hour worked.
