People Operations Specialist – Recruitment and Safety Support

People Operations Specialist – Recruitment and Safety Support is an integral part of Jealous Fruits’ People Operations team success. They will assist with the overall operations of the department, playing a key role in the local recruitment and selection process, participating in the onboarding process and training and development of the full employees’ life cycle.
Working closely with the Food, Health and Environmental Safety Advisor, the People Operations Specialist – Recruitment and Safety will be responsible for organizing and ensuring that all Farms comply with company policies and Government First Aid and Safety regulations, support Farm Managers in the implementation of the health and safety best practices and policies, be instrumental in constantly improving Jealous Fruits health and safety program to ultimately decrease work related injuries and deliver cost savings for the company.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment- Leads the full-cycle local recruitment process including creating job advertisements, building relationships with key recruitment avenues and websites, participating at job fairs, collecting resumes, short-listing candidates, conducting reference checks, and handling rejection communication for unsuccessful candidates.
- Prepare and post job advertisements both internally and externally.
- In coordination with the department managers, set up interviews for short-listed candidates, participate in the interviews with the managers, verify reference checks, confirm start dates for selected candidates, and handle rejection correspondence with unsuccessful candidates.
- Participate in recruitment and networking events (job fairs, conferences), representing the company brand and culture to attract and select the best candidates.
- Sends out staff announcements introducing the new employees and their contact information and advising of staff departures.
- Conducts exit interviews for each departing employee to identify reasons for leaving, areas of improvement, and the overall experience with the company.
- Supports the needs of the People Operations team by helping others when necessary.
- Organizes and ensures that all Farms are equipped with everything needed and are always following First Aid rules and regulations.
- Coordinates the training of First Aid in preparation for the season based on the expected number of employees at each farm.
- Maintains strong communication with the Fields Operations team, Food, Health and Environmental Safety Advisor, and People Operations team regarding health and safety issues and areas of improvement.
- In full season, coordinates the needs of hiring seasonal nurses and ambulances at each location.
- Participates in the onboarding and safety training of new employees.
- Contributes to identifying training needs, developing training programs, and delivering training to Jealous Fruits employees.
- Assesses the organization training material to find gaps and training needs.
- Creates training materials as necessary to address these needs.
- Assists the People Operations Manager and Food, Health and Environmental Safety Advisor with ensuring employees maintain appropriate mandatory training.
- Manages confidential employee records, ensuring all records are up to date and accurate.
- Maintains open communication with the Payroll department regarding employees’ start and departure dates, and all other relevant information.
- Supports the review of existing and development of new policies.
- Participates in the Health and Wellness and JHSC committees.
- Maintains effective communication with all members of the People Operations department.
