Purchasing and Outside Service Planner

Lonzais a global leader in life sciences operating across five continents. Today, Kingston is hiring a Purchasing and Outside Service Planner. This role plays a pivotal role in planning and procuring raw materials and supplies necessary for the production of finished goods, supporting operations in R&D, Engineering, Biology Lab, Manufacturing, MSAT, and Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure materials, components, equipment, supplies, and services vital for the operation of the company.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise goods and services to meet production requirements, employing techniques such as JIT, Kanban, Blanket POs, and Reschedules.
  • Ensure purchase requisitions and orders are closed on a timely basis.
  • Check requisitions and MRP requirements, contact, and evaluate sources.
  • Set up and maintain material, supplier, and planning system data in the MRP/ERP system.
  • Exercise knowledge of goods, services, and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
  • Determine material requirements for expense orders with Biology, Engineering, and production schedules, coordinating the efficient movement of materials.
  • Identify and evaluate sources of supply consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
  • Evaluate bids consistent with the total cost of ownership.
  • Work with receiving, finance, and suppliers to reconcile discrepancies in receiving and invoicing.
  • Develop, implement, and support sourcing and supplier management initiatives.
  • Support Lean and EHS activities and initiatives.
Leadership
  • Operate with integrity in work performance and interaction with others.
  • Tenaciously identify key root causes.
  • Build and follow timelines.
Computer/Software Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in using spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
  • Intermediate understanding of ERP systems (Visual / SAP).
Decision Making
  • Propose ideas during problem-solving, root cause analysis, and process improvement events.
  • Provide suggestions for improvement to documentation and workflows.
Communication
  • Write free of punctuation, spelling, and grammatical errors.
  • Represent the department in meetings and on project teams.
  • Provide timely, clear, and accurate updates without being prompted.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required – preferably in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or Economics.
  • 5-10 years in the area of Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance.
  • APICS or Certified Professional in Supply chain Management (CPSM).
