The Bioinformatics Analyst ensures timely and accurate analysis of clinical diagnostic data which will be used by Clinical Scientists for interpretation and reporting. The Bioinformatics Analyst will coordinate with LifeLabs IT department to monitor and support Genetics Labs’ bioinformatics systems and ensure that applications and databases are operational and up to date. The Bioinformatics Analyst will provide support for analysis and reporting team members. The Bioinformatics Analyst will coordinate with the Bioinformatics Programmer to provide requirements and specifications for analytical pipelines.
Your responsibilities will include:- Analyse results (Sanger, NGS, MLPA, and qPCR) for clinical reporting.
- Involve in implementation, testing, and operations of Genetics Laboratory Information Management System (GLIMS) used to manage data and workflow in clinical specimen acquisition, handling, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) data acquisition, analysis, and reporting processes.
- Involve in integration of LIMS with internal Laboratory Information System (LIS), analytical pipeline and clinical reporting applications and results distribution systems.
- Coordinate activities with internal IT department, external partners, and suppliers to implement, interface, and configure Genetics Lab application and database development, testing, and operations.
- Post-Graduate or Masters Degree in Bioinformatics, Genetics, or a related field.
- PhD preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience (Graduate research work will be considered as work experience as long as it is relevant to DNA sequencing and/or analysis).
- Detailed understanding of human genetics and molecular biology.
- Proficiency with online resources (such as HGMD, PubMed, OMIM, Medline) and mutation databases.
- Academic or working experience with molecular techniques, DNA sequencing, and NGS experience preferred.
- Working experience in a clinical environment or diagnostic lab is an asset.
