About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Analyst Specialist to join our research team at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. This is a full-time, contract position (1 year) that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative mental health research.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Principal Investigator and lab members, including scheduling meetings, onboarding new trainees, updating the lab website, and coordinating events.
- Become familiar with major public and restricted-access research datasets used by the group, manage downloads and updates, assist with annual usage reports, and handle data use agreements.
- Collaborate with lab members to create high-quality online documentation for computational and research tools, leading regular operations meetings to improve our lab's GitHub, Slack environment, and personalized learning plans.
- Communicate and assist team members in collaborative projects, sometimes across institutions.
- Develop in-house dashboards and work with the IT Operations team to streamline research data workflows using Superset and dbeaver.
Secondary Responsibilities and Opportunities
- Assist in scientific report writing, including drafting grant proposals and publications.
- Conduct statistical analyses on multimodal datasets to address important questions in mental health.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Informatics Technology, Bioinformatics, or Neuroscience, with 1 year of experience working in a research environment. You will possess a solid understanding of data handling and biostatistics, as well as experience with computational tools, command line interfaces, version control, and cloud computing. Proficiency in R, Python, SQL, and other programming languages is essential.
You will also need excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders, researchers, students, organizations, and support staff. As a self-driven and proactive worker, you will thrive in a dynamic team environment, demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, and composure, and value research that transforms patient lives.
The estimated salary for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health offers a competitive compensation package, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth in a supportive and inclusive workplace culture.
