Reporting to the Senior Vice-President of Corporate Services, Capital Programs and Chief Financial Officer, the Lead, Business Development will play a critical role in developing innovative revenue generating strategies and partnerships to support CHEO in serving the growing needs of children and families and transforming pediatric care.

With dedication to the care of patients and families, the ideal candidate for this inaugural role brings an entrepreneurial mindset with extensive experience in revenue generation, market analysis, strategy & business case development, and partnership development. They are comfortable setting and achieving revenue targets.

We are looking for someone who is solutions oriented, able to innovate to address challenges and opportunities and knows how to communicate effectively externally and with at all levels of the organization, including the Executive team and the Board of Directors. Demonstrated relationship-building, team engagement, change leadership, collaborative decision-making, and continuous quality improvement competencies and mindsets are essential. This role will liaise with CHEO Foundation leadership to ensure strategy and partnerships are built in alignment with CHEO objectives.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Build a strategic plan and vision for Business Development setting organizational objectives with leadership for revenue generation, excluding philanthropic revenue generation.
  • Identify new business opportunities based on alignment to CHEO’s mission, research and analysis.
  • Develop business cases including but not limited to feasibility studies, financial analysis and projections, risk assessments, pricing strategies, return on investment and success metrics.
  • Provide strategic insights and support Assessments and ongoing improvements of CHEO’s existing revenue generating programs.
  • Working with operational leaders, develop and maintain strong community relationships and partnerships.
  • Represent CHEO externally to develop business opportunities and partnerships including preparing effective sales tools and presentations.
Qualifications:

This role requires a minimum of 7-10 years related experience. An MBA is preferred however an equivalent combination of relevant skills and experience will be considered. Demonstrated experience of diverse business functions including a strong knowledge of profit and loss, cash flow management, and pricing strategies are essential as are strong negotiating skills. Experience in healthcare and unionized environments are considered an asset as is bilingualism (English/French).

This position is based in Ottawa and a relocation allowance could be made available if needed for candidates located outside the National Capital Region.
