Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Finance Business Partner (FBP) is responsible and accountable to provide financial leadership, decision support, advice, and guidance to their assigned portfolios in support of strategic goals and objectives while ensuring overall fiscal responsibility. The FBP collaborates, advises, and coaches managers and employees on finance-related issues, providing expert financial advice and guidance in the design/development of strategic and tactical business/operational plans. Also, in this role you will work closely with all areas of the Finance department, the Office of Corporate Services and People and Inclusion department to provide customized business solutions in alignment with strategic and operational goals and priorities, proactively sharing relevant business insights from client groups.

Here’s an insight into your typical day to day:

  1. Build long term strategic relationships with management at all levels, acts as the trusted advisor in providing professional and proactive financial support and services to assigned client group.
  2. Partners with assigned portfolio to provide expert financial advice and make recommendations on short- and long-term initiatives that will enable the achievement of departmental and divisional goals and objectives and drive business value within fiscal responsibility.
  3. Ensures advice is in accordance with professional standards and Royal College financial controls and policies to mitigate risk.
  4. Supports the development of the client’s business cases, recruitment authorization forms, contracts and project plans to ensure that a full analysis has been completed and the best option is identified and funded.
  5. Prepares all supporting financial cost-benefit analysis reports. Analyze implications for the client as well as the organization as part of the planning process.
  6. Leads the business planning, budgeting, and quarterly forecasting for client groups including coordinating timelines/ deliverables to ensure they are achieved by clients.
  7. Advises the client groups on the prioritization of budget funds and analysis of financial impacts of business decisions.
  8. Ensures that budgets/funding requests are in alignment with the business requirements and are aligned with the corporate plans. b>
    1. Level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration.
    2. Experience with tax legislation as it relates to non-profit organizations and registered charities is essential.
    3. Work experience in a not-for-profit organization is an asset.
    4. Accounting designation, CPA required.
