The Global Wealth Management Technology group at Scotiabank is primarily responsible for the design and development of digital applications for wealth and brokerage customers.

We are looking for a Senior Delivery Lead, Development who will work with the team for wealth management/brokerage digital modernization. The Delivery Lead works with one or multiple teams delivering business value to customers. As a Delivery Lead, Development with a strong technical background in software development, you are passionate about Agile methodologies, communication, technical alignments, continuous improvement, and coaching to deliver digital production for customers.

  • Possess strong leadership skills to inspire, motivate and guide team members to achieve their project goals.
  • Have a strong technical background in the software development life cycle to guide the team, solve technical challenges, and make informed decisions.
  • Bring technical expertise and engage in productive discussions with Architects and Technical leads.
  • Guide and participate with the team to provide educated estimates based on technical background and solution design experience.
  • Work with the team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments, tracking and removing them to enable the team.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution, building a trusting and safe environment for problem resolution.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Identify and act on coaching opportunities at the individual and team level.
  • Conduct regular assessments of team Agile Maturity and use results to guide improved performance.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Release Planning, Release Train Planning).
  • Support the Product Owner, especially with respect to story grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks using Agile best practices and project deliverables.
  • Forecast deliverables based on evidence and reliable sources.
  • Be an expert in estimating and planning, creating useful, reliable, and practical plans for software development projects.
  • Provide regular, standardized reporting for team performance: velocity, stories completed, and project status.
  • Coordinate operational readiness activities with associated teams (security, infrastructure, network, etc).
  • Oversee and coordinate software release activities.
  • Actively participate in timely decision making in defining product backlog, aligning with overall product architecture and technical design.
  • Regularly communicate with other scrum teams to ensure tactical story alignment and identify/tracking dependencies.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 5-7+ years of technical project management experience and/or leading large cross-functional/cross-regional teams on major organizational projects primarily dealing with software development releases.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand team needs.
  • Strong understanding of Wealth/Brokerage business is an asset.
  • Previous experience as a software developer or technical lead is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, focusing on value delivery and frequent delivery of working software.
  • Understanding of backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban metrics, task definition, and story splitting.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile techniques – Automated Testing, User Stories, Continuous Integration, Testing, etc.
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working experience in JIRA/Confluence.
  • Hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful product launches.
