We are recruiting for an experienced Nursing Director to join our Long Term Care team at peopleCare Communities. This is a great opportunity to work with a rapidly growing organization that values its employees and residents.

About the Role

The Nursing Director will be responsible for all aspects of nursing care and directing the work of nursing and personal care staff in the assigned unit. This includes ensuring that all legislative standards, company policies and procedures, and rule and regulations are adhered to in a professional manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure practice and conduct meet legislative requirements
  • Review 24-72 hour shift reports at the beginning of shifts
  • Provide nursing care according to established nursing standards and principles
  • Implement physician orders and administrative policies
  • Process physician orders as required
  • Observe, report, and record vital signs, symptoms, and conditions of residents
  • Initiate health measures where appropriate
  • Assure observance with required techniques in nursing care
  • Prepare, implement, review, and evaluate resident plans of care
  • Participate in scheduled and required assessment processes
  • Monitor resident health and note any changes in conditions appropriately
  • Initiate appropriate nursing interventions
  • Responsible for resident safety according to role
  • Assess need for referral to physicians or other disciplines
  • Administer medications as required
  • Support RPNs in their roles
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Must maintain competencies as per governing College standards
  • Experience in Long Term Care considered an asset
  • Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers
  • Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
  • Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management, and customer focus skills
  • Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers
  • Skills in use of computer and Microsoft Office applications
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be between $85,000 and $110,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous retirement plan.
