Job OverviewAs a member of our logistics team, this position is responsible for customs operations by monitoring imports to Canada and export shipments from Canada. Key responsibilities include freight invoice processing daily and meeting regulatory agency requirements related to international trade and customs.
We're seeking a skilled Customs Operations Specialist with a minimum of three years' experience in customs brokerage or compliance roles. Strong knowledge of International Incoterms, Trade Agreements, and Global Supply Realization is required. Certification as a Customs Specialist is an asset. Intermediate-level proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is also necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent networking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with all levels of personnel. They should be able to demonstrate strong data retrieval and manipulation skills, with verifiable output and report creation. Risk and control management expertise, particularly across multiple logistics cost points, is highly desirable.
Responsibilities- Determine tariff treatment based on documents and provide tariff opinions for approval
- Handle general inquiries professionally over the phone, in person, or via email
- Support Canadian business units by providing documentation and information requirements for in/out movements
- Provide recommendations for process gaps, areas of risk, or opportunity, and report to Assistant Manager
- Assist with special customs projects as required
- Download invoice data from systems and provide to 3PL daily
- Minimum 3 years' experience in customs brokerage or customs compliance roles
- Strong knowledge of International Incoterms, Trade Agreements, and Global Supply Realization
- Certification as a Customs Specialist (an asset)
- Intermediate-level proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent networking and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deal with all levels of personnel
