About the Role

The YMCA BC is seeking an Access Worker to join their team in supporting young people between the ages of 12-24. This comprehensive initiative aims to provide a range of services, including housing support, coaching, advocacy, and practical assistance with finding employment and maintaining housing.

The Access Worker will work collaboratively with Foundry Prince George to provide a holistic approach to youth wellness and integration into the community.

This role involves establishing rapport with young people with complex needs, encouraging and supporting youth to identify and work towards goals in different areas of life, and helping youth connect to other needed resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with young people, understanding their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Support youth in identifying and working towards personal goals, promoting empowerment and positive change.
  • Provide information and referrals to relevant resources, including housing support, employment services, and community programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring effective communication with the program coordinator and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly young people.
  • Relevant education or training in social services, counseling, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and relationship-building.
