Atlantic Aqua Farms, a renowned leader in the North American shellfish industry, is seeking an exceptional Coastal Operations Director to join their dynamic team.

Based in Prince Edward Island, Canada, we also operate Oyster Farming facilities in Virginia and Maine, and Distribution centers in Maine and Boston, USA.

The Role

This is a key leadership position responsible for delivering results in three main areas: Implementation of safety initiatives and the Safety Program, Biological Planning for Mussel and Oyster Operations, and overseeing farm audits such as BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices). As a Coastal Operations Director, you will be expected to lead supply planning, production planning, and tracking performance throughout the process.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the supply planning function for mussel & Oyster Operations, including coordinating internal supply and 3rd party supply, providing projections, and coordinating production planning to meet sales forecasts.
  • Assist in Production planning for our Mussel and Oyster Operations from entry to Processing.
  • Coordinate Planning for Mussel and Oyster Harvest.
  • Track Production Performance and Inventory throughout the process.
  • Use Production Software for tracking performance and lead production improvements.
  • Stocking plans for Mussel Farms.
  • Report key production KPIs (weekly, monthly, and annually).

Safety Focus

This role involves developing a positive health and safety culture and initiatives throughout our operations in Canada and the United States. You will:

  • Set a personal example for safety and safe working behaviors.
  • Assist in the implementation of a Health and Safety Program across all operational units.
  • Establish fully functioning Health and Safety Committees.
  • Track and report on the implementation of this program.
  • Conduct annual Audits of our Health and Safety Program.
  • Track Health and Safety Initiatives.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and Operational Management to identify New safety equipment and operating procedures.
  • Implement Personal Protective Equipment and practices in our operations.
  • Work with suppliers to define best practices, proper equipment, and training programs.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health and Safety, Department of Fisheries, Transport Canada, and other regulators to identify requirements and implement in our operations.
  • Actively address any safety-related concerns and take corrective actions to improve safety policies and procedures.

Audit Responsibilities

  • Taking direct responsibilities for audits and ensuring compliance with BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices), Pro-Cert (Organic), Retail, and Wholesale client audits.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in management studies, business, or production planning.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in production, planning, and/or health and safety.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The benefits package includes dental care, extended health care, RRSP match, and vision care.

Location

The position is located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and requires travel within PEI and the USA up to 30% of the time.
