Position Overview:
MasTec Canada is seeking a Lead Project Controls Specialist for its Industrial Division. This role is site-based and follows a rotational schedule.
The Lead Project Controls Specialist will oversee cost management, productivity tracking, manpower allocation, quality assurance, health, safety, and earned value progress data. Responsibilities include managing data mapping across various platforms to generate comprehensive project progress reports for the execution team. Collaboration with project stakeholders, including scheduling specialists and project coordinators, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain both external and internal cost reports, cash flow statements, and forecasts.
- Track and analyze purchase orders and subcontracts, ensuring accurate budget monitoring.
- Compile and review monthly labor and general cost reports, assessing their impact on project budgets.
- Identify and address any discrepancies in cost and schedule reports that may affect project forecasts.
- Standardize cost reporting formats in accordance with project requirements.
- Monitor trends and changes in design, procurement, and construction progress, reporting findings to the project team.
- Implement project controls plans to ensure accurate reporting and timely billing of reimbursable costs.
- Assist in developing financial, productivity, and scheduling analyses to support the project controls team.
- Coordinate administrative tasks related to equipment documentation and process improvements.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to resolve accounts payable and receivable issues.
- Review and reconcile client invoices with the Finance team.
- Manage coding systems for all project-related documents.
- Process change orders and alerts in line with established procedures.
- Facilitate the approval process for change orders with project management.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure project cost targets are met.
- Oversee billing administration, including data entry, corrections, and communication of discrepancies.
- Support the integration of data across various programs and assist in developing base cost estimates.
- Compile accurate and timely cost reports and assist in the change management process.
- Utilize Excel for data analysis and communicate results to the project team.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project controls within construction projects, including estimating, forecasting, scheduling, and cost control.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with P6 is essential.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, piping, and civil disciplines is advantageous.
- Experience in the construction industry and familiarity with construction ERP systems is a plus.
