About the Role

BBA Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Central Canada. As a senior member of our mechanical engineering team, you will play a key role in all phases of engineering projects from front-end studies through to field implementation with a focus on detailed engineering.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform high-level engineering on major mechanical packages such as crushing and grinding circuits, flotation circuits, leaching circuits, dewatering, heavy machinery, conveyors, and pump systems.
  2. Develop mechanical scopes of work, budgets, and proposals, ensuring that work complies with budgets, schedules, estimates, and established procedures.
  3. Lead mechanical scope on conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering.
  4. Supervise or carry out design calculations and ensure that plans meet guidelines as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
  5. Assign and review the work of junior engineers, technicians, and drafters assigned to projects and assess technical scope.
  6. Establish and maintain relationships with clients to define their needs.
  7. Present technical information, concepts, or study results.
  8. Verify and produce files for tenders, specifications, and other technical documents.
  9. Occasionally supervise contractors on site.
  10. Be a key team member for small to major brownfield/greenfield mining projects.
  11. Participate in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing.
  12. Provide mentorship and coaching of junior/intermediate engineers, actively sharing knowledge, and supporting the enhancement of skills within the team.
  13. Foster a culture of having fun at work while producing high-quality professional deliverables.
  14. Process plant layout design oversight: Strong asset.
