About the Role

BBA Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Central Canada. As a senior member of our mechanical engineering team, you will play a key role in all phases of engineering projects, from front-end studies to field implementation, with a focus on detailed engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-level engineering on major mechanical packages, including crushing and grinding circuits, flotation circuits, leaching circuits, dewatering, heavy machinery, conveyors, and pump systems.
  • Develop mechanical scopes of work, budgets, and proposals.
  • Ensure that work complies with budgets, schedules, estimates, and established procedures.
  • Lead mechanical scope on conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering.
  • Supervise or carry out design calculations and ensure that plans meet guidelines, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assign and review the work of junior engineers, technicians, and drafters assigned to projects and assess technical scope.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients to define their needs.
  • Present technical information, concepts, or study results.
  • Verify and produce files for tenders, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Occasionally supervise contractors on site.
  • Be a key team member for small to major brownfield/greenfield mining projects.
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching of junior/intermediate engineers, actively sharing knowledge, and supporting the enhancement of skills within the team.
  • Foster a culture of having fun at work while producing high-quality professional deliverables.
  • Process plant layout design oversight: Strong asset.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong commitment to health and safety, the ability to see beyond established standards, and a thirst to learn and excel. You should have a proven track record with strong technical skills as a Mechanical Engineer on mineral process plant projects, experience in base and precious metals, and the ability to interpret PFDs and process design criteria from process engineering.

Requirements
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 20+ years of relevant engineering experience in the mining sector, with a preference for recent 10+ years in consulting.
  • Must be a registered engineer in Ontario, Canada.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Available for site work (3-10 days at a time).
  • Site experience considered a strong asset.
