Job DescriptionAs a Registered Nurse with Fraser Health, you will have the opportunity to consolidate your skills by rotating through various specialty nursing units, prior to or during post-graduate course work applicable to these units.
You will assess patients and collect information from multiple sources, using your skills of observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment to make informed nursing decisions.
Through effective collaboration with patients, families, caregivers, and the interprofessional care team, you will develop and implement person-centered care plans, promoting empathy, trust, and respect for each individual's unique needs and preferences.
Your expertise will be essential in coordinating nursing care, setting priorities, assigning and delegating tasks to support staff, and making referrals to the interprofessional care team as necessary.
By participating in research and quality improvement activities, you will contribute to the identification of patient care issues, collection of data, and development of recommendations for corrective action and changes to practices, procedures, or protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Completion of the applicable post-graduate specialty nursing course/program and/or willingness to complete the program
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessment (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety-type interventions
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote person-centered care and advocate for patients' rights
- Capacity to integrate and evaluate data from multiple sources to problem-solve effectively, and teach patients and families/caregivers about topics essential to their health care and well-being
