As a key member of our underwriting department, you will be responsible for reviewing files for accuracy and quality control, assisting underwriters in the analysis of difficult or complicated files, and communicating with lawyers and law clerks to explain coverages and answer inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review files for accuracy and quality control
  • Assist underwriters in the analysis of difficult or complicated files
  • Communicate with lawyers and law clerks to explain coverages and answer inquiries
  • Perform legal research projects and draft memos and charts outlining findings
  • Participate in the development of guidelines and procedures
  • Develop and update Continuing Professional Development presentations
  • Attend real estate and title insurance industry functions

Requirements:

  • Law degree and membership in at least one provincial bar association
  • Residential real estate experience (minimum 2 years)
  • Commercial real estate experience an asset
  • Understanding of real estate conveyancing and real estate law
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to develop working relationships at multiple levels of an organization
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project)
  • Willingness to work overtime when required
  • French an asset
